Our warranty, in plain language
We put our warranty in writing so you know exactly what's covered. Here's a plain-language summary. Your signed warranty document is what applies to your job.
Waterproofing: 25-year warranty and 50-year no-leak guarantee
Every waterproofing job comes with a written 25-year warranty, and it's backed by our own 50-year guarantee that it won't leak.
What's covered
- Failure of the waterproofing membrane we installed
- Failure of drainage board or weeping tile we supplied and installed
- Water getting in through the specific area(s) we waterproofed
- Defects in workmanship directly related to our waterproofing work
What's not covered
- Structural issues: foundation wall movement, and cracks caused by shifting, frost, settling, heavy machinery or construction
- Outside conditions: sewer backups, plumbing leaks, sump pump failure, groundwater table changes, roof or eavestrough drainage problems, and surface water or grading problems we didn't repair
- Later changes: landscaping, digging or construction after our work; damage by other contractors; alteration or removal of the waterproofing materials
Keeping your warranty valid
- Don't disturb or alter the work area
- Keep proper grading around the house
- Keep your sump pump (if you have one) working and maintained
- Don't create new water sources (for example, broken or redirected downspouts)
How to make a claim
- Tell us within 7 days of discovering water in the waterproofed area. Call or text 519-738-6868 or email service@bedals.com.
- We schedule an inspection within a reasonable time.
- If it's covered, we repair it at no cost to you.
- If it isn't covered, we give you a quote for the repair.
Selling your home?
- Option A: "Your waterproofing warranty can transfer to the new owner if you notify us in writing within 30 days of the sale."
- Option B: "The warranty isn't transferable unless we agree otherwise in writing."
- Option C (if it's decided job by job): "Whether your warranty transfers to a new owner is stated on your warranty document."
When it starts
Your warranty becomes active once the work is paid in full and you've signed our Work Completion Form.
Limits
Our responsibility is limited to repairing or replacing the waterproofing work we originally did. The warranty doesn't cover consequential damages, mould, rot or pre-existing hidden water issues, or damage from forces beyond our control.
Foundation crack repairs: 25 years. Parging: 5 years
Foundation crack repairs come with a 25-year warranty, and parging comes with a 5-year warranty, both on labour and material. It's void if future landscaping changes water flow, if the homeowner or a third party damages the work, or if structures settle or shift due to soil conditions.
