How we protect LaSalle basements
Water that comes through foundation walls and cracks is seepage, and it's fixed from the outside. Here's what we do:
- Exterior waterproofing: we dig to the footing, clean the wall, apply Blueskin membrane and Platon dimple board, then backfill and grade away from the house.
- Drainage: weeping tile replacement, window wells and grading so water moves away from the foundation.
- Crack repair: from interior injection to exterior digs.
Sewer backups through the floor drain are a different problem, handled by a licensed plumber with devices like backwater valves. At a free site visit, we'll tell you honestly whether you likely need waterproofing, a plumber, or both.
When the ground stays wet
When groundwater sits high for weeks, the pressure on a foundation wall doesn't let up. Exterior waterproofing (membrane plus drainage board down to the footing drain) gives that water somewhere to go other than through your wall. It won't lower a lake. But it's the most direct way to protect a basement from water pushing through the walls.
