Foundation waterproofing and masonry in Windsor

Windsor has a real mix of homes, from older neighbourhoods like Walkerville and Sandwich to Riverside, along with post-war and newer homes across South Windsor, Forest Glade and East Windsor. Add heavy clay soil and big summer storms, and foundation walls take a lot of water pressure. We make the drive up from Amherstburg to fix that from the outside.

Windsor's recent flooding

Parts of Windsor got roughly 100 mm of rain in one day on 6 July 2026, and hundreds of residents called 311, with basement flooding reported in areas including south Windsor, Remington Park, Devonshire Heights and Fontainebleau (CBC News, July 2026). Many homeowners still remember the September 2016 and August 2017 floods too.

Basement water after a storm can come from two places: sewer backup (water coming up through floor drains) or seepage (groundwater coming through walls and cracks). They need different fixes. Plumbing devices like backwater valves deal with backups. Waterproofing deals with seepage. Many Windsor homes benefit from both.

How we protect Windsor basements

Water that comes through foundation walls and cracks is seepage, and it's fixed from the outside. Here's what we do:

  • Exterior waterproofing: we dig to the footing, clean the wall, apply Blueskin membrane and Platon dimple board, then backfill and grade away from the house.
  • Drainage: weeping tile replacement, window wells and grading so water moves away from the foundation.
  • Crack repair: from interior injection to exterior digs.
  • Community: we're proud to support Skate Windsor.

Sewer backups through the floor drain are a different problem, handled by a licensed plumber with devices like backwater valves. At a free site visit, we'll tell you honestly whether you likely need waterproofing, a plumber, or both.

Downspouts in Windsor

The City offers a free downspout disconnection service (book through 311 or 519-255-2489). Disconnection is mandatory in the area south of Tecumseh Road East, north of the CP rail line, east of Howard Avenue and west of Walker Road, and the City has said it will expand mandatory disconnection after recent flooding. Disconnected downspouts should discharge well away from your foundation. We can re-grade around the house so that water keeps moving away. (City of Windsor: Downspout Disconnection)

What we do for Windsor homes

  • Exterior waterproofing for leaking block and poured foundations
  • Crack repair, from interior injection to exterior digs
  • Parging and pointing on older brick and block homes
  • Grading and window wells in tight city lots, including hand digging where an excavator won't fit
